TU Dublin Computer Science, in collaboration with Huawei Ireland, has just concluded an inspiring Technical Summer School in China! This initiative is a game-changer for nurturing global perspectives in our young STEM talents.

The program saw four talented female students, each supported by a €1,000 scholarship from Huawei Ireland, embark on an enriching journey to China. They had the privilege of visiting the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) and Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). The curriculum was nothing short of cutting-edge, covering fascinating topics such as Robots, AI, Future Technology, and Materials for Renewable Energy. Beyond the classroom, the students immersed themselves in the vibrant cultures of Beijing and Chengdu, gaining invaluable cross-cultural experiences that will shape their global outlook.

Baolin Liang, PR Manager at Huawei Ireland, emphasised that "exposing students to global perspectives in technology is key to shaping the innovators of tomorrow."

Gráinne Bannister, a third-year undergraduate at TUD, shared, "I was extremely happy to learn about career opportunities, particularly the career experience of a female expert in Huawei. I now believe there is a strong future for female students who have concentrated on STEM subjects."

The program concluded last week with a visit to Huawei's Dublin office, offering insights into tech trends and career development advice.

As educators, this initiative showcases the power of international collaboration in STEM education. It's not just about technical skills – it's about fostering global mindsets, cultural understanding, and empowering our female students in tech.
