Team Anaphero, comprised of five exceptional Irish students from various universities, is making waves in the global STEM arena. Having clinched the title of Seeds for the Future European Champion Team, they are representing Ireland in Huawei's prestigious Tech4Good global final in China. Their visit is set to be an enriching 7-day experience blending technological innovation and cultural exploration.
The innovative project that propelled Team Anaphero to international recognition focuses on a wearable device designed to alert caregivers when a child shows early signs of anaphylactic shock. Leveraging cutting-edge technology such as 5G networks and AI for real-time analysis, this creation highlights the ingenuity of young Irish minds.
In Beijing, at the competition's opening ceremony, Ireland's Ambassador to China, Dr. Nicholas O'Brien, praised the team for their remarkable achievement, “I congratulate Team Anaphero from Ireland for their wonderful achievement on becoming the Huawei Tech4Good European regional champions and reaching the global final in Beijing. Tiarnan O'Rourke, Ciara O'Reilly, Dylan Hussain, Luke O'Sullivan and Eoin Creavin have developed a truly impressive wearable medical device, a symbol of the creativity and innovation of young Irish people. I wish Team Anaphero the best of luck in the competition, and I hope they have a stimulating and productive visit here in China”.
Highlights of their itinerary include participation in the Tech4Good Accelerator Camp from April 7–10, which offers intensive coaching sessions and mentoring. Following this, the team will pitch their project to a panel of judges. Should Team Anaphero secure a spot in the global top three or win the people's selection award, they will extend their journey to explore Hangzhou and Shanghai alongside Beijing and Shenzhen.
